The children had the opportunity to take part in three different science activities:
🐛Camouflage Caterpillars
The children had pipe cleaner caterpillars of all different colours. A group at a time hid their caterpillars in the environment for the other group to find. Once the children had found the caterpillars, they discussed which caterpillars were easy to find. We asked the children ‘Why are caterpillars green?’ And the children were introduced to the word ‘Camouflage’.
🚀 Rocket Reach
The children all decorated a toilet roll and added some tape to make a rocket shape. They then used plastic bottles to see how far their rockets could travel and competed against others in the class to see who’s rocket travelled the furthest.
🌻 Sunflowers
Each class have planted three sunflowers and they are going to have a competition to see who can grow the largest sunflowers.
Thank you to all of the staff for planning such a fun afternoon for our EYFS children for British Science Week! ☺️
