At Mill Hill Primary Academy, we believe in recognising and celebrating the achievements of our pupils. Through a range of rewards and incentives, we encourage children to live our school motto:

“Work Hard, Dream Big and Never Give Up!”

Celebrating Our School Values

Every half term, we celebrate children who have demonstrated one or more elements of our school motto. These pupils are recognised for their commitment, resilience, determination, and positive attitude towards learning and school life.

Promoting a Love of Reading

We are passionate about developing confident and enthusiastic readers. Children who read at home at least four times each week are rewarded through our weekly and half-termly reading initiatives.

Each week, eligible pupils are entered into a reading raffle, with two children from each year group selected to receive a reward, such as a book from our book vending machine or a special bookmark. These rewards help to inspire a lifelong love of reading and celebrate the effort children put into reading at home.

Behaviour for Learning Rewards

Our Behaviour for Learning (B4L) programme, alongside the support of our WISH Team, encourages children to achieve their very best both academically and personally.

Children who meet their Behaviour for Learning targets are rewarded each half term with exciting experiences and activities. Previous rewards have included:

  • Cinema experiences
  • School discos
  • Funfair events
  • Inflatable activity days
  • Colour runs

These memorable experiences recognise the positive choices children make every day and encourage them to continue striving for success.

Homework Recognition

We value the importance of learning beyond the classroom. Children who consistently complete their homework are rewarded with special in-class treats, chosen by their year group team, as a way of celebrating their commitment and effort.

Rewarding Excellent Attendance

Regular attendance plays a vital role in children’s achievement and wellbeing. To encourage excellent attendance, we celebrate those who attend school consistently throughout the year.

Each half term, classes achieving 96% attendance or above by the penultimate week are rewarded with a special class treat in the final week of term. The reward is chosen by the children, making it a celebration that everyone can enjoy.

In addition, pupils who achieve 100% attendance each term are invited, along with their parents or carers, to our special Big Breakfast event. This provides an opportunity to celebrate outstanding attendance together and recognise the importance of being in school every day.

At Mill Hill Primary Academy, we are proud to celebrate the hard work, dedication, and achievements of all our pupils, helping them to develop confidence, resilience, and a love of learning.

Here at Mill Hill Primary Academy we regularly reward the children who strive to achieve our motto of “work hard, dream big and never give up!”

Our Reward System

Here at Mill Hill Primary Academy we regularly reward the children who strive to achieve our motto of “work hard, dream big and never give up!” We celebrate the children’s achievement every week at our achievement assembly. We also have weekly and half termly rewards for those children that are reading at least four times per week at home. Our Behaviour for Learning (B4L) programme and WISH hubb also supports our children both pastorally and academically to achieve great things. Each half term there is a treat for the children that have met the B4L target. These wonderful opportunities have for example included a cinema experience, discos, funfairs and bouncy inflatables!

We also reward children who come into school every day. Our attendance awards include a ‘Big Breakfast’ for the winning class each week and certificates for 100% and 97%+ attendance each term. We also have a “Big Breakfast” for parents/carers and children for those with 100% attendance each term.
