Welfare, Inclusion and SEND Hub (WISH)

At Mill Hill Primary Academy, we pride ourselves on the pastoral care and support we provide for our children, their families and the wider community.

Our Welfare, Inclusion and SEND Hub (WISH) is based within the academy and plays a vital role in ensuring that every child has the opportunity to flourish. Through a dedicated team of highly skilled and qualified staff, we provide a wide range of support to meet the needs of our children and families, always striving to go above and beyond for our academy community.

Who Do We Support?

  • Children and families in receipt of Pupil Premium Funding
  • Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Children requiring social, emotional or mental health support
  • Families in need of additional support and guidance
  • Local and national charities through community engagement initiatives

Our Provision

Reflection Zone

Our Reflection Zone provides a safe, calm and supportive environment where children can come to talk, reflect or simply take time to think when things become difficult. The space is used to support children with social, emotional and behavioural needs, helping them to develop strategies for managing challenges, resolving friendship difficulties and building resilience.

Intervention and Support Rooms

Our intervention rooms are used to deliver targeted support tailored to individual needs. These include:

  • Reading and phonics interventions
  • Curriculum catch-up programmes
  • SEND support and specialist interventions
  • Social and emotional support sessions
  • Nurture provision to develop confidence, wellbeing and positive relationships

Food Pantry

We are proud to provide a Food Pantry service to support families within our school community. This initiative helps ensure that children and families have access to essential food items when needed.

Lunchtime Dining Provision

We offer a dedicated lunchtime dining provision for children in Years 1 to 6, providing a welcoming environment where children can enjoy their meals and socialise positively with their peers.

Working with Families and External Agencies

We recognise that some children and families require additional support beyond what school can provide. Our WISH team works closely with a range of external agencies and professionals to ensure that children receive the right support at the right time. These partnerships include organisations such as Changes, YoungMinds, Dove and other specialist services.

By working collaboratively with families, professionals and support services, we help children overcome barriers to learning, improve their wellbeing and achieve their full potential.

At Mill Hill Primary Academy, WISH is at the heart of our commitment to ensuring that every child feels valued, supported, listened to and empowered to succeed.
