Meet the Team
2A: Mrs Akhtar and Mrs Turner
2W: Mr Wallace and Miss Gidman
Hi, I am Mrs Akhtar, and I began my career at Mill Hill in 2016. Since then, I have spent several wonderful years teaching in Year 1 and, for the past two years, have enjoyed teaching Year 2. As Phase Leader, I love working closely with colleagues to create the very best learning experiences for our children and to support them in reaching their full potential. Outside of school, I am a proud mum to my beautiful nine-year-old daughter, and I love spending quality time with her children are incredibly inquisitive. Family is very important to me, and I enjoy making special memories with my loved ones whenever I can. We also have a lovely cat, called Simba, who is a much-loved member of our family!
I have the pleasure of working alongside Mrs Turner, who has worked at Mill Hill since the year 2000 as a teaching assistant. She worked for 12 years in the reception class and has also worked in years 2, 3, 4 and 5. Mrs Turner enjoys and loves her role within the school very much! She is a parent herself to 3 children and a nana to 4 grandchildren. Mrs Turner is a great lover of dogs and has a dog of her own called Rodan, who she absolutely adores
Hi! I am Mr Wallace. I have previously worked across all sectors of education and have an extensive background in PE/sports coaching, where I have coached a number of age ranges from 5 – 18. Outside of school, I enjoy getting involved in a number of sports, keeping active, reading books, playing video games and spending time with my friends.
I have the pleasure of working alongside Miss Gidman, who has worked at Mill Hill Primary Academy for over 5 years. She has spent half of her Mill hill life working in KS2 and is now working with KS1. Miss Gidman came to us from a private day nursery where she was a deputy manager as well as working with young children aged 2-5 years. Outside of school, Miss Gidman enjoys spending time with her family, going to theme parks and taking care of Thor (her cat) and Vinnie (her dog).
This year, our PE day will be Monday. Please make sure appropriate PE kit is in school each week. This includes the purple Mill Hill t-shirt. It is important the children take part in the sessions. Please see our uniform policy for more details. https://clt.millhill.coop/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Academy-Uniform-September-2023.pdf
In school, we use Bug Club and monitor reading on a daily basis. We change our reading books on a weekly basis or depending on reading habits. We also monitor homework on a weekly basis.
We are so excited for all of the learning opportunities we will get to share with the children this year.
