Reception

Meet the team

RB – Mrs Brookes and Miss Fenton

RF – Mrs Flannigan and Mrs Joines

Hi, my name is Mrs Brookes. I have been a Reception teacher around 6 years and my heart truly belongs to the Early Years. I really enjoy being a part of the beginning of children’s journeys and helping them to learn lots of new and exciting things! When I am not being a teacher, I am being a mum at home to my 2 beautiful girls! We enjoy being busy and going out on day trips to places like the farm, soft play, parks and Cbeebies land! But, I also enjoy relaxing at home, when the girls let me! I look forward to the year ahead and to see what the children in Reception can achieve!

Miss Fenton has been a part of the Mill Hill family for over 10 years. She really enjoys spending time with family and chilling out with a book!

Hello, I am Mrs Flannigan and I work in RF with Mrs Joines. I have 3 grown up children and a gorgeous fur baby called Sookie. I have worked at Mill Hill for almost 20 years and still love it as much as I did when I started. I love to see and encourage the children to try their best and flourish in all they do. Mrs Joines and I both love to sing and dance and are often seen doing this in the classroom!

You will also catch Mrs Joines spending quality time with the family and eating her favourite thing in the whole world… spaghetti Bolognese and Lindor chocolate!

This year, PE is on a Monday. Please make sure appropriate PE kit is in school each week and any earrings have been removed and left at home. Please see our uniform policy for more details. http://clt.millhill.coop/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Academy-Uniform-September-2023.pdf

We change our reading books on a Friday and ask that purple folders are brought into school every day with their books and planners inside. We also monitor homework on a weekly basis and expect homework books to be returned on a Thursday, so your child can share their progress. We send phonics homework weekly, to be returned every Thursday.

We have lots of exciting topics to teach this year and are looking forward to sharing these with your child.

Autumn 1 topic: Transport – Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Autumn 2 topic: Celebrations

Spring topic: The World and Beyond

Summer topic: All Creatures Great and Small
