Year 6

Meet the Team

6N: Mrs Norcup and Miss Shaw

6H: Miss Higginson and Mrs Podmore

Hi, I’m Mrs Norcup and I am delighted to be teaching year 6! I can’t wait to see the children grow in their learning and develop their determination and perseverance to get them ready for high school!
Outside of school, I have a gorgeous dog called Buzz, who I love talking on long walks. I also enjoy spending time with my family and travelling to different countries. Working alongside me is Miss Shaw. She is looking forward to working with the children again. She has recently come back from maternity leave after having a little boy called Finley who keeps her very busy. She enjoys walking her dog called willow on the weekends with her family.
I am Miss Higginson. I have been working at Mill Hill Primary Academy for a few years now and I thoroughly love my career. I have had the pleasure of working in year 4 and helping the children to flourish and grow, ready for their transition to upper key stage two. Now, I start my new adventure, as I have been given the privilege to start the new academic year in year 6. I am really excited to unpack a new curriculum and I can’t wait to see my new class achieve their goals, make fantastic memories and grow into well-rounded learners. I am very lucky to be joined in Year 6 by Mrs Podmore and she is the teaching assistant in 6H. She has been working at Mill Hill for 30+ years, so she has taught many of the parents whose children now come to the school. She has two sons and three grandchildren that keep her busy at the weekends. When she gets a bit of down time, she loves walking and reading.

This year, our PE day is on Friday. Please make sure appropriate PE kit is in school that day. This includes the purple Mill Hill t-shirt. It is important the children take part in the sessions. Please see our uniform policy for more details. http://clt.millhill.coop/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Academy-Uniform-September-2023.pdf

In year 6, we strive to develop the children’s independence, resilience and ownership for their learning in preparation for their next chapter in their school life at high school. On this page you’ll find links to key information about the exciting year ahead and how you can support your child at home.
