At Mill Hill Primary Academy, the safety, wellbeing and happiness of every child is at the heart of everything we do.

We are proud of the strong relationships we have with our children, families and wider community. Alongside our dedicated teaching staff, we have a Welfare, Inclusion and SEND Hub based within the Academy, ensuring that pupils and their families receive the support they need to thrive.

Our Commitment to Safeguarding

Our safeguarding procedures include:

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. We have robust procedures in place to ensure that all children are safe, supported and able to learn in a secure environment.

• Children know who they can talk to if they have a worry or concern.
• All staff complete Level 1 Safeguarding training, with regular updates to ensure knowledge remains current.
• Safeguarding policies, procedures and expectations form a key part of the induction process for all new staff.
• Recruitment is led by staff who are trained in Safer Recruitment practices, helping us appoint suitable adults to work with our children.
• Our Safeguarding Link Governor regularly monitors safeguarding arrangements and internal procedures.
• All staff are trained and confident in using our safeguarding recording system to report concerns promptly and effectively.
• Volunteers, supply staff and visitors are made aware of our safeguarding expectations and procedures before working within the Academy.
• We work closely with external agencies and professionals to provide the best possible support for children and their families.
• Our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs), senior leaders and key members of staff complete enhanced safeguarding training at Levels 2, 3 and 4 to ensure they have the knowledge and skills to respond effectively to safeguarding concerns. They are pictured below.

Online Safety and Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Helping children stay safe online is an important part of safeguarding.

We teach pupils how to use technology responsibly, safely and respectfully, including developing an understanding of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). As AI becomes a more common part of everyday life, we help children learn how to use these tools appropriately, think critically about the information they provide, and understand the importance of staying safe online.

To help keep our pupils safe when using school devices and the internet, we use Senso, an online monitoring system that helps us identify potential safeguarding concerns. Senso alerts designated safeguarding staff to unusual or concerning online activity, allowing us to provide timely support where needed while promoting a safe digital learning environment.
