Year 1

Meet the Team

1M: Miss Minton and Miss Hughes

1R: Miss Russell and Mrs Milne

Hi, I am Miss Minton. I have worked at Mill Hill for over 15 years and have worked across both key stages in that time. I was so excited to move back to Year 1 after many years in Key stage 2, as it is one of my favourite year groups as it is where we watch the children make so much progress in such a short time.  I am passionate about the children having a fun filled creative curriculum planned for them to make them life-long learners. I have three gorgeous children; Harvey, Jackson and Sophia, and a mad dog called Daisy. I am joined by Miss Hughes. She absolutely loves working in KS1. She has two children; Neveah and Neo. If you ever want to make her smile, get her fizzy pop!

Hi, I am Miss Russell. I began my career at Mill Hill in 2020 and have had the pleasure of working in both key stages. I loved working with the Year 5 children and getting them prepared for year 6; however, I thoroughly enjoyed working in Year 2. Year 1 is a new adventure for me and I can’t wait. In my spare time, I love to watch different programmes on the TV. I have the pleasure of working alongside Mrs Milne who has worked at Mill Hill for over 23 years. She has worked across every key stage and loved every minute. She has spent the majority of her time in KS2 working with and supporting children with SEN. She is extremely passionate about children’s emotional wellbeing and has studied to the holistic approach to Mental Health. She loves to research any subject that makes us feel good. She is very excited to be working in Year 1 – she is sure we will have lots of fun.

This year, our PE day is on Thursday. Please make sure appropriate PE kit is in school on that day. This includes the purple Mill Hill t-shirt. It is important the children take part in the sessions. Please see our uniform policy for more details. http://clt.millhill.coop/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Academy-Uniform-September-2023.pdf

In school, we monitor reading on a daily basis. We change our reading books every Friday. We also monitor homework on a Monday, so please ensure children bring these to school on the appropriate day. We love to see all the amazing work they do with you at home.

We are so excited for all of the learning opportunities we will get to share with the children this year and we try to make it as fun filled and creative as we possibly can.
