Meet the Team

1A – Mrs Akhtar and Mrs Perry

1M – Miss Minton and Miss Hughes

Welcome to Team Year 1!

Hi I am Mrs Akhtar, I began my career at Mill Hill in 2016. I have always worked in Year 1 as it is my favourite year group as we really see the children begin to shine. I have a daughter, who is 5 which helps me to understand how to help her learn and I have a cheeky cat called Yeezy. I have the pleasure of  working alongside Mrs Perry, who worked at Mill Hill back in 2006 for 8 years. She then left to pursue a career in care, but recently decided she wanted to make a comeback and joined the team in January. She has 2 sons who she loves spending time with.

Hi I am Miss Minton, I have worked at Mill Hill for 14 years and have worked across both key stages in that time. I was so excited to move back to Year 1 this year, as it is one of my favourite year groups where we watch the children make so much progression in such a short time. I am also curriculum lead, so I am passionate about the children having a fun filled creative curriculum planned for them to make them life-long learners. I have two gorgeous children; Jackson and Sophia, and a mad dog called Daisy. I am joined by Miss Hughes who has had the pleasure of working at the school for 10 years now and has worked with a variety of year groups. Since joining Year 1, she is absolutely loving it, especially the children. One of her favourite things to do with the children is dough disco! Any excuse for a boogie! She has a daughter called Neveah and she enjoys taking her swimming, she loves it!

This year, our PE day is on Thursday. Please make sure appropriate PE kit is in school on that day. This includes the purple Mill Hill t-shirt. It is important the children take part in the sessions. Please see our uniform policy for more details.

In school we use Bug Club and monitor reading on a daily basis. We change our reading books every Friday. We also monitor homework on a Monday, so please ensure children bring these to school on the appropriate day. We love to see all the amazing work they do with you at home.

We are so excited for all of the learning opportunities we will get to share with the children this year and we try to make it as fun filled and creative as we possibly can.
