Welcome to Team Year 1!
Hi I am Mrs Akhtar. I began my career at Mill Hill in 2016. I have always worked in Year 1 as it is my favourite year group as we really see the children begin to shine. I have a daughter, who is 6 which helps me to understand how to help her learn and I have a cheeky cat called Yeezy. I have the pleasure of working alongside Miss McCue, who joined the academy in a full time role back in September. She started her journey at Mill Hill in the wish team, which she really enjoyed as she is extremely passionate about working with children with SEND. She has since moved in to Year 1. Throughout her time in Year 1, she has enjoyed everything about it. She has 3 fabulous children who she loves spending time with doing family activities.
Hi I am Miss Minton, I have worked at Mill Hill for 15 years and have worked across both key stages in that time. I was so excited to move back to Year 1 after many years in Key stage 2, as it is one of my favourite year groups. It is where we watch the children make so much progress in such a short time. I am passionate about the children having a fun filled creative curriculum planned for them to make them life-long learners. I also run the Eco Warriors committee where we have been awarded the Green Flag from Eco-Schools. I have two gorgeous children; Jackson and Sophia, and a mad dog called Daisy. I am joined by Mrs Milne who has worked at Mill Hill for 23 years. She has worked across every key stage and loved every minute. She has spent the majority of her time in KS2 working with and supporting children with SEN. She is extremely passionate about children’s emotional wellbeing and has studied to the holistic approach to Mental Health. She loves to research any subject that makes us feel good. She is very excited to be working in Year 1, she is sure we will have lots of fun.
This year, our PE day is on Monday. Please make sure appropriate PE kit is in school on that day. This includes the purple Mill Hill t-shirt. It is important the children take part in the sessions. Please see our uniform policy for more details. https://clt.millhill.coop/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Academy-Uniform-September-2023.pdf
In school, we use Bug Club and monitor reading on a daily basis. We change our reading books every Thursday. We also monitor homework on a Monday, so please ensure children bring these to school on the appropriate day. We love to see all the amazing work they do with you at home.
We are so excited for all of the learning opportunities we will get to share with the children this year and we try to make it as fun filled and creative as we possibly can.
