Year 6

Meet the Team

6O: Mr Owen and Mrs Podmore

6W: Mrs Prime and Miss Shaw

I’m Mr Owen and it’s great to be back in Year 6 after five fantastic years in Year 5! This is my eighth year at Mill Hill, and I’m excited to help our pupils thrive as they prepare for their next chapter. At home, I enjoy spending time with my young son, Elliott. I’m a huge sports fan—especially football (I’m a proud Vale supporter) and American football, which I’ve played for over 15 years.
Supporting Mr Owen in 6O is our wonderful teaching assistant, Mrs Podmore. With over 30 years of experience at Mill Hill, she’s taught generations of families and brings a wealth of knowledge and care to the classroom. She enjoys walking, reading, and spending time with her two sons and three grandchildren.
I’m Mrs Prime and I’m absolutely thrilled to be teaching in Year 6 again this year. I truly love everything about this special year group—from the exciting curriculum to the wonderful journey of growth our pupils go through. At home, I’m kept on my toes by my two amazing children, Harlow and Louie, and when I do get a bit of spare time, you’ll often find me on the netball court! I’m really looking forward to a fantastic year ahead with our brilliant Year 6 team.
Alongside Mrs Prime is Miss Shaw. Since returning from maternity leave, she has been based in Year 6 and loves being part of this exciting stage in our children’s learning journey. At home, she has a little boy called Finley who keeps her very busy, and she enjoys weekend walks with her family and dog, Willow.

This year, our PE day is on Friday. Please make sure appropriate PE kit is in school that day. This includes the purple Mill Hill t-shirt. It is important the children take part in the sessions. Please see our uniform policy for more details. http://clt.millhill.coop/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Academy-Uniform-September-2023.pdf

In year 6, we strive to develop the children’s independence, resilience and ownership for their learning in preparation for their next chapter in their school life at high school. On this page, you’ll find links to key information about the exciting year ahead and how you can support your child at home.
