Year 2

Meet the team

2A: Mrs Akhtar and Mrs Seyad

2R: Miss Russell and Mrs Turner

Hi, I am Mrs Akhtar and I began my career at Mill Hill back in 2016. I have spent several wonderful years teaching in Year 1 and moved to year 2 last year, which I have thoroughly enjoyed. As Phase Leader, I love working closely with colleagues to create the best possible learning experiences for our children. Outside of school, I’m a proud mum to my beautiful eight-year-old daughter, who keeps me very busy! I also have a lovely cat called Simba.  In my spare time, I enjoy quality time with my family.

Joining me in 2A is Mrs Seyad. She has been at the school for over 15 years and has worked across the school from KS1 to KS2. She is looking forward to a new challenge in Year 2. Outside of school, Mrs Seyad is kept busy by her beautiful children.

Hi, I am Miss Russell. I began my career at Mill Hill in 2020 and I have had the pleasure of working in both key stages. I have previously taught years 1, 5 and 2. In my spare time, I love to watch different programmes on the TV and spending time with my family.

I have the pleasure of working alongside Mrs Turner, who has worked at Mill Hill since the year 2000 as a teaching assistant.  She worked for 12 years in the reception class and has also worked in years 2, 3, 4 and 5.  Mrs Turner enjoys and loves her role within the school very much! She is a parent herself to 3 children and a nana to 4 grandchildren.  Mrs Turner is a great lover of dogs and has a dog of her own called Kalidor, who she absolutely adores

This year, our PE day will be a Monday. Please make sure appropriate PE kit is in school each week. This includes the purple Mill Hill t-shirt. It is important the children take part in the sessions. Please see our uniform policy for more details. http://clt.millhill.coop/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Academy-Uniform-September-2023.pdf

In school, we use Bug Club and monitor reading on a daily basis. We change our reading books on a weekly basis or depending on reading habits. We also monitor homework on a weekly basis.

We are so excited for all of the learning opportunities we will get to share with the children this year.
