Year 1

Meet the Team

1B: Miss Barker and Miss Hughes

1C: Miss Cipolla and Miss Gidman

Hi there! I’m Miss Barker, and I’ve been lucky enough to be part of the Mill Hill Primary Academy family for over 10 amazing years. I started my journey here as a Learning Support Practitioner, and with lots of hard work (and plenty of learning myself!), I became a teacher—and I’m absolutely loving it! When I’m not in the classroom, you’ll probably find me enjoying time with my family, getting creative with my art supplies, or cheering on my favourite motorsports! I get to work with the fantastic Miss Hughes, who has also been at Mill Hill for over 10 years. She’s a key part of our brilliant Key Stage One team. When she’s not busy inspiring young minds, she loves spending time with her family and heading out for a nice meal. We both feel so lucky to be part of such a fun, friendly, and supportive school community!

Hello! I’m Miss Cipolla, and I’m so excited to be joining the Mill Hill community. I’m very excited to be working in Year 1 and feel really lucky to be part of such a lovely school. Before coming to Mill Hill, I have taught in both Year 1 and Year 3. I’ve always loved all things creative and enjoy finding fun, hands-on ways to make learning exciting for the children. When I’m not at school, I love spending time with my family and friends—and I’m a big animal lover too! I have the pleasure of working alongside Miss Gidman, who has worked at Mill Hill Primary Academy for over 4 years. She has formally worked within Key Stage 2 but she has now joined the Key Stage 1 team. In her spare time, she is in a band, so music is a passion of hers.

This year, our PE day is on Thursday. Please make sure appropriate PE kit is in school on that day. This includes the purple Mill Hill t-shirt. It is important the children take part in the sessions. Please see our uniform policy for more details. http://clt.millhill.coop/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Academy-Uniform-September-2023.pdf

In school, we monitor reading on a daily basis. We change our reading books every Friday. We also monitor homework on a Monday, so please ensure children bring these to school on the appropriate day. We love to see all the amazing work they do with you at home.

We are so excited for all of the learning opportunities we will get to share with the children this year and we try to make it as fun filled and creative as we possibly can.

"Work hard, dream big and never give up."
