Sarah Hulme

Head of Academy and SENCO

I have lived in Stoke-on-Trent my entire life and have strong ties to the Potteries, particularly the pottery industry. I feel incredibly fortunate to teach while also living on a small holding with my two wonderful daughters. I’m proud to be the second person in my family to attend university, following in my mum’s footsteps as a teacher, which ignited my passion for the classroom.
After several years of teaching across various key stages in schools throughout Stoke, I discovered my true passion lies in Early Years education. I began my journey as a young teacher at Mill Hill and have grown to become the Head of Academy. Mill Hill holds a special place in my heart, as the dedication and talent of the children, staff, and community continue to inspire me every day.
Through my teaching journey, I’ve come to believe that every child is unique and has something special to contribute to their education. At Mill Hill, we have the important responsibility of helping children grow and reach their full potential. As the Dalai Lama wisely said, “When educating the minds of our youth, we must not forget to educate their hearts.” Education helps us understand ourselves, and it’s essential to remember that learning is a lifelong journey. As Anthony J. D’Angelo puts it, “Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow.”
