WW2 Workshop! (Mar 26)

This morning, Year 6 took part in a very exciting and engaging WW2 Workshop! The children were given the opportunity to step back in time and explore what life might have been like for civilians living in Britain during the Blitz. Through a range of hands-on activities, they learned about the challenges people faced and the important role ordinary citizens played in keeping their communities safe. 😁

During the workshop, the children had the chance to handle and use a variety of replica equipment that would have been used during air raids. They tried using stirrup pumps to put out small fires, practised using bomb scoops to safely move debris, and worked together with sandbags to understand how people protected buildings from blast damage and flooding caused by firefighting efforts.💦🔥💦

The children continued their learning by exploring a terrific collection of historical artefacts. These objects helped them discover more about the different aspects of life on the Home Front, from air raid precautions to rationing and everyday living during wartime. Examining these artefacts up close gave the children a fascinating insight into the past and helped to bring their history learning to life. ☺️
