Year 5

Meet the Team

5W – Mrs Wellington and Miss Gidman

5O – Mr Owen and Mrs Whitehead

Hi, I am Mrs Wellington and I have worked at Mill Hill for over 13 Years. I have a passion for English and I have the privilege of leading writing throughout the school. I have two grown up daughters, who attend Newcastle college and Keele University. I also have a naughty Beagle called Billie! I love the sunshine and going abroad whenever I get the chance! I am very lucky to be joined in the classroom by Miss Gidman, who has been working at Mill Hill for a few years. She has worked in Key stage 2 during that time. In her spare time, she is in a band, so music is a passion of hers.

Hi, I am Mr Owen and I completed my teacher training at Mill Hill before accepting my first teaching post at another school. I couldn’t stay away for long though and I was back in 2017. In my spare time, I coach American Football for a men’s team based in Widnes. With me in class is Mrs Whitehead who has worked at the school for over 12 years. She has been fortunate enough to work across all three key stages, so has had the benefit of seeing the learning journey throughout Mill Hill. She has six grown up children and five grandchildren, who keep her busy most weekends.

This year, our PE day is on Wednesday. Please make sure appropriate PE kit is in school that day. This includes the purple Mill Hill t-shirt. It is important that the children take part in the sessions. Please see our uniform policy for more details. https://clt.millhill.coop/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Academy-Uniform-September-2023.pdf

In school, we use Bug Club and monitor reading on a daily basis. We change our reading books every Friday. We also monitor homework on a Friday, so please ensure children bring their books to school on that day. We love to see all the amazing work they do with you at home.

We are so excited for all of the learning opportunities we will get to share with the children this year and we try to make it as fun filled and creative as we possibly can.

"Work hard, dream big and never give up."
