Year 3

Meet the team

3W: Mrs Wellington and Miss Shaw

3B: Mrs Bunyan and Mrs Whitehead

Hi, I am Mrs Wellington, I have worked at Mill Hill for 13 Years. I have a passion for English and I have the privilege of leading writing throughout the school. I have two grown up daughters, who attend Newcastle college and Keele University. I also have a naughty Beagle called Billie! I love the sunshine and going abroad whenever I get the chance! Joining me in class is Miss Shaw. She started in January 2021 in Year 3 and absolutely loves it! The children are fantastic. She is currently trying to get herself on the property ladder and buy her first house. She enjoys eating, loves to shop and spending time with family.

Hi, I am Mrs Whitehead and I have worked at the school for 11 years. I have been fortunate enough to work across all three key stages, so have had the benefit of seeing the learning journey of Mill Hill. I have six grown up children and five grandchildren, which keeps me busy most weekends. Also in Year 3 is Mrs Seyad, who has worked here for almost 20 years. She absolutely loves it. Throughout that time she has worked across all key stages. At the weekends she is very busy with her five children.

This year, PE is on a Tuesday. Please make sure appropriate PE kit is in school each week and any earrings have been removed and left at home. Please see our uniform policy for more details.

In school, we use Bug Club and monitor reading on a daily basis. We change our reading books on a weekly basis, so make sure that your child brings their book to school every day. We also monitor homework on a weekly basis and expect homework books to be returned on a Friday, so your child can share their progress.

We have lots of exciting topics to teach this year and are looking forward to sharing these with your child.

Our Humanities Topics This year:

Autumn-The Stone Age

Spring- Ancient Egyptians

Summer- Food Glorious Food

Our Science Topics This Year:

Autumn- Rocks/Light

Spring- Magnets and Forces/Plants
